Stakeholder Consultations

Laurie Starr
Since 2012, The TOPS Program has facilitated a number of half day consultations between the private voluntary organization (PVO) community and USAID's Office of Food for Peace (FFP).

The stakeholder consultations are an excellent opportunity for PVOs to gain clarity from FFP on a range of topics that affect their programmatic work. Additionally, the stakeholder meetings enable FFP to consult with PVOs on how to improve processes related to their funded programs. Feedback taken from these meetings has gone on to inform the development of crucial policies and processes.

The TOPS Program facilitators work with FFP and representatives from the PVO community in advance of these meetings to collect in-depth qualitative data about the meeting topics. The facilitators then use this data to craft a framework for the consultation that aims to contribute to a solutions-oriented dialogue between the two parties.
